Delayna Robbins

AFRO-SURREALIST, ARTIST & DESIGNER

Delayna is currently open to commissions, collaborations, and creative partnerships. Let’s connect and embrace the chaos of creativity together.

Delayna Robbins is a painter, illustrator, and creative mentor currently based in North Carolina. Known online as A Colorful Chaos, she creates vibrant, Afro-Surrealist artwork that explores themes of healing, identity, ancestry, and divine love.

Raised in a military family and now deeply rooted in the Triangle art community, Delayna blends her lived experiences with spiritual symbolism and storytelling. As an HBCU Alumni, she received a B.A. in Graphic Design from Elizabeth City State University, but found her true voice through painting. She loves experimenting with bold color, layered textures, and surreal imagery to explore the emotional and spiritual landscapes of Black life.

Her practice includes community interviews, commissions, and YouTube vlogs where she shares process videos, affirmations, and reflections on the artist’s journey. From mural work and children’s book illustrations to one-on-one mentorship, Delayna’s mission is to remind people that art is a tool for transformation, one that can heal not only the spirit, but the stories we carry.

She’s most proud of building a creative home within the North Carolina art scene and remains dedicated to making work that feels empowering, magical, and deeply human.

With a background in design and a passion for healing through art, Delayna merges her creative expression with community healing and Afro-Surrealist storytelling.

Artist Statement

As A Colorful Chaos, my work is a visual love letter to healing, identity, and the beauty of Black and Brown stories.

Rooted in Afro-Surrealism and storytelling, I use bold colors and dreamlike symbolism to reflect the spiritual and emotional landscapes we carry, especially in the Black Community. My art is inspired by real conversations, real feelings, and real people. Through community interviews and quiet moments in the studio, I create pieces that explore what it means to feel empowered, loved, and seen.

Painting has been a sacred part of my own healing journey. It helps me process, reconnect, and remember. I hope my work does the same for others offering space to reflect, breathe deeper, and maybe even begin again.

“Art is how I remember who I am. It’s how I heal, connect, and tell our stories.”

On Delayna’s YouTube channel, A Colorful Chaos, she shares the heart behind her artist journey. Through vlogs, painting time-lapses, and honest reflections about navigating life as an artist, creativity, and healing through Afro-Surrealism.

Whether she’s working on a new series, prepping for an exhibition, or reflecting on the creative process, Delayna invites her audience into a world where art becomes a form of personal and collective transformation.

“Every part of my journey matters. The detours, the breakthroughs, the stillness…I choose to embrace the chaos of creativity with love and intention.”
